Draping: What Not To Do

Once the drape is placed in position on the patient, it should only be moved away from the proposed site of incision, towards the periphery of the prepared area.  If the drape is placed or moved too far from the proposed incision site, this drape should be removed and replaced with a new sterile drape.

It is important not to turn the drape around once unfolded, remember that the drape that is below the surgeon’s waist is no longer sterile and should not come into contact with the surgical field.
