Tie-On/ Tie-Over Bandages
Tie-on or Tie-over bandages offer an interesting alternative to regular bandaging methods for wounds surrounding the head, perineal region and areas that cannot be bandaged easily. The application of tie-on bandages involves placing several, loose, stay sutures at the wound periphery. After applying the bandage material to the wound, umbilical tape or the string from a laparotomy sponge can be looped through the pre-placed suture loops in order to stabilize the bandage over the wound.
